Variables, which reside in your site’s context library, serve to tailor policies to your specific needs.

As an example, the PRIMARY variable, when set to ‘Yes’, will inform the system that the site requires policies tailored to primary schools. Once a variable has been switched on, your site will automatically update to reflect your changes.

Some variables, such as the PRIMARY variable mentioned above, will be filled out by your CompliSpace consultant before your site has been delivered to you.

A list of variables you may find relevant can be found within your ‘Welcome to CompliSpace’ module, under the ‘Site and Contextualisation’ sub-headings.

Editing a Variable

  1. Navigate to your PolicyConnect site.

  2. Enter administrator view.

  3. Enter your site’s context library by clicking on the (blue star) icon in the top menu bar.

  4. Use the search bar to locate the variable you would like to update. In this example, we will be setting the PRIMARY variable to yes, which will let the system know to output policies relevant to primary schools.

  5. Click on the (blue star) icon next to your variable, as you would do to edit a context key.

  6. Select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ from the drop-down menu in the pop-up window that appears.
Note: Variables that have not been filled out will default to ‘No’.
Note: If you are working from a group master site, you will be given the option to ‘Group Lock’ your variable. To learn more about group locking, please see our Group Contextualisation guide.

  7. Click the SAVE button to save your changes.

  8. Check that your content has been updated to reflect your change. As an example, now that the system is aware that we require policies related to primary schools, the School Registration module will be updated to display a Primary School curriculum policy. See the images below for a comparison.
